We shape
digital
products.
Research-led design for product teams who are tired of redesigning the same problems. Based in Zona Tortona, Milan. Working across Italy and Europe.
Six services.
Any combination.
Define the right problem before designing any solution.
High-fidelity screens that look finished and work logically.
User flows, information architecture, and wireframe structure.
A structured five-day sprint from problem to tested prototype.
Extend an existing product without accumulating design debt.
Turn brand guidelines into a working UI design system.
Research happens before design. Structure happens before visual design. Revision rounds happen at defined points, not continuously.
Three case studies.
Six steps.
No surprises.
The steps are not bureaucracy. Each one prevents a specific failure mode.
Written brief agreed before work starts. If we cannot agree a brief, we will tell you before taking your money.
We review what you know about your users. If there are gaps, we fill them with structured research activities rather than assumptions.
Architecture and flows before visual design. This is where expensive late-stage changes are prevented rather than fixed.
High-fidelity screens built from the approved structure. Components first, then screens, then breakpoints.
Structured revision rounds, not open-ended feedback loops. Each round consolidates all feedback at once.
Annotated Figma file, asset exports, and a developer walkthrough session. Builds that use our files should not require design interpretation.
What clients say.
They asked questions we had never thought to ask about our own product. The discovery session alone saved us from building the wrong thing for the third time in a row.

We expected a redesign. What we got was an explanation of why users were actually struggling, followed by a redesign of the parts that mattered. The scoping was refreshingly honest.

The Brand-to-Product engagement gave our development agency a brief that was specific enough to actually follow. Previous digital projects had started from brand guidelines and drifted immediately.

The design sprint format was new to our team. By day three, we had already resolved a disagreement we had been having for six months. By day five, we had user data instead of opinions.

Three designers.
All the work.
Valentina has been designing digital products in Milan since 2011. She leads all client engagements and the interface design practice. Before starting Umma, she was Head of Product Design at a Northern Italian SaaS company for five years.
Davide runs the Experience Architecture and Design Sprint practice. He has facilitated over 60 design sprints across Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. His background is in cognitive science and interaction design.
Marta specialises in interface design and design system construction. She joined Umma in 2021 from a brand agency in Milan and brings a rigorous approach to visual consistency across complex product surfaces.
Modular pricing.
Each service is priced independently. Commission one or combine several. Add optional modules and support hours at any stage.
